This is Intuit's free preparation app that lets you plan ahead to help you pay less in taxes or maximize your refund. I did keep checking last year just for the heck of it and never saw any price for Premier, even at Costco if I recall correctly that had much of a discount. If you don't exactly trust filing your tax return through an app or you just want to get an estimate on your tax return, then you should check out TaxCaster. I'm not a huge fan of the Intuit bureaucracy, mulling over whether to take any action there. Even if I asked for my money back, they still have my CC and product installed on my machine. We shall see what happens when I got to file and/or if there are any viruses or if my CC gets ripped off. I have not yet figured out a way to check to see whether these folks are authorized reseller because in the little bit of research I've done, Intuit does not release these freely. Looking back the $$$ was actually paid to "spendmylikes" via Paypal-a little cringeworthy for me but I did it. The old company was in business for over 4 years according to scamadviser. last year because the email I used to order last year is one set up for specific purposes and the offer came via that email address-it had to have been provided by the old company. I didn't check the website address/company name vs. I'm usually better than this but I didn't do my homework this year. My apologies to anyone who felt mislead by my post and thanks to everyone who posted cautions and warnings. Caveat emptor.Įdited to add: OP (nonnie) reported that s/he was a a satisfied customer last year, but nonnie's earlier post about last year links to a site with a completely different name, which is no longer in operation. Given the sensitivity of the kind of information entered into tax software, I would be very careful what I am downloading onto my computers and would only want to purchase it from a reputable source. The site is selling downloads of Turbotax. The site is apparently very new (started up in Aug 2016) and it is unclear who is operating it. Still, other sites, such as Amazon, Intuit, and H&R Block, display that symbol on every page of their sites, not just the order page.) (Edited to add: it appears that if you go to the order page, the lock and https do appear. I certainly would NOT want to give my credit card information to such a site.

#Download turbotax deluxe 2016 free software
Not only is pirated software purchase illegal, such a deal might be pennywise and pound foolish, since you may not be able to get customer service with it (especially important for tax software, since there will surely be multiple updates between now and filing season.)įurther setting off alarm bells, when I look at the site linked in the OP, I don't see the lock icon and https in my browser's address bar. You don't want to unknowingly buy pirated software or promote a pirate site.Įxcellent point-I hadn't looked carefully at the link at the original post because I am no longer interested in TurboTax, having switched to HR Block's product.
